Bharti Foundation was set up in the year 2000 with the vision, "To help underprivileged children and young people of our country realise their potential". In order to realise this vision, the foundation has been creating and supporting programmes that bring about sustainable changes, predominantly in the field of education.

Bharti Foundation has adopted a two-pronged strategy to impact the quality of education in schools. On one hand, the foundation is adopting government schools in order to create a positive impact on the quality of education being delivered to underprivileged children while on the other hand, it is in the process of setting up pre-primary, primary and senior secondary level schools under the Satya Bharti School Program. This program launched in 2006 supports the search for excellence and sets benchmarks for quality education.

In addition to the above two flagship programmes, the foundation also initiated a number of other programmes such as Bharti Computer Centres and Bharti Library and Activity Centre (BLAC).
